Movie time: 1st term Project - Night at the museum 3



Before watching:



1. Look for information about the British Museum in London, the American Museum of Natural History and the Hayden Planetarium in New York.

2. Find more information about London City, Brooklyn and NYC.

3. Do you know the following actors: Ben Stiller, Robin Williams, Owen Wilson? Can you name some movies they appeared in?




While watching:



1. Pay attention to details about the museums, characters and the places that appear in the movie!!!



After watching:



1. Can you name the main characters of the movie?

2. Can you spot some attractions in London?

3. Can you remember some specific areas in the British Museum the characters visited during their adventures in the museum?

4. Do you know the Legend of the Holy Grail?

5. Find more information about Pompeii.

6. Do you know something about the tomb of pharaoh Ahkmenrah and The magical Tablet of Ahkmenrah?

7. Do you know who Theodore Roosevelt was? And Sacagawea, Attila the Hun?

8. Can you remember the 2 dinosaurs in the movie? One was Tyrannosaurus Rex skeleton. Do you you know the 2nd one?

9. Find some more information about a capuchin monkey. Do you know who is Crystal the Monkey as Dexter?

10. Can you describe a Neanderthal?

The Canterville Ghost - EXAM


The exam will include various activities.

You can prepare for the exam by doing the following "possible" tasks!!


1. Describe your favourite character.
2. Describe the Canterville Chase.
3. Name the products Mr Otis brought from the USA.
4. Compare the American and the English cultures as it appears described in the short story.
5. Study the Glossary and learn the new vocabulary.
6. Describe the Ghost.
7. Continue the story. What happens to the Otis family?
8. Do you believe in ghosts? Why? Why not?
9. Look for information about the author: Oscar Wilde.
10. Find pictures about the England of the 19th century and describe the changes that appeared during this century.

REVISION PAST SIMPLE VS. PAST CONTINUOUS



Deadline: 5th of March 2018
Put the verbs in the Past Continuous tense.         
  
                                                           

Last night was hard. There was a blackout as well as a robbery. People in Smithville were upset. But 
what were they doing when the lights went out? 
A man   (wash) the dishes while his wife  ( give) her baby a bath. A blonde woman  (wash) her clothes. Another woman  (watch) TV with her husband and their children  (do) their homework. A young man didn't realise the lights went out because he  (listen) to music on his mp3 player. But why did the lights go out? The director of the power company claims that there was a blackout because it  (rain) heavily but it is said that they  (have) a party and they  (not watch) the controls. One of the reporters, Bob,  (wash) the dishes and Dorris, his wife,  (have) a bath. Jackie, Bob's colleague,  (work) in the building.


Now let's talk about the robbery. Burglars broke into all the appartments in the building when all the tenants were out. But what  (they/do)? One of the tenants  (wash) his clothes and a woman  (visit) a friend. Another woman  (have) a picnic at the beach and a man  (play) tennis in the park. Two men  (attend) a football game and a blonde woman  (visit) her grandchildren. What a night!
Put the verbs into Past Simple or Past Continuous.
He   (walk) along the street. It was 5 p.m. The late autumn sun   (shine). He   (think) about the case. Something in it was wrong. A detail or two   (not/match). He   (not/notice) that it   (start) to rain.
 At 5 p.m. yesterday Mark   (sit) in the cinema. He   (drink) Coca Cola and he   (eat) popcorn. The film was so exciting that he   (not/notice) how he   (upset) the popcorn packet onto the floor.
 At 5 p.m. yesterday Ted   (sit) on the float. He was rather scared because a shark   (circle) around and around the float. Luckily some tourists who   (fly) in a helicopter   (see) him. They   (call) the rescue team and they   (rescu e) Ted.
Mr and Mrs Twotoes   (walk) along the beach with their dog Claw. Suddenly the wind   (start) to blow. It   (lift) an old plastic bag from the ground. Claw the dog   (want) to catch it. It   (run) from one side to the other. Then it suddenly   (run) out of sight.
Jeremy and Pamela   (dance) exuberantly when their children   (come) home. They   (explain) that the music on the radio was so good that they   (can) not sit on the sofa. So they   (start) to dance.
Nick   (sneeze) so violently that he   (fall) off his chair. The people who   (sit) in the room with him   (get) a terrible fright. As Nick   (sit) on the floor, however, they   (start) to laugh.
At 5 p.m. last Sunday Luke and his father were in the garden. They   (fly) a kite. The wind   (blow) nicely, the sun   (shine), it was warm. It was a perfect day. At 5:30 mother   (call) them in to have dinner.
